Beau Constantia Guest Cottage

The cottage is sited on a narrow platform on a steep slope, with spectacular views of the valley and mountains all round. It comprises three elements: a concrete clad box containing the bedrooms and forming the base for the open plan living area, a floating concrete roof slab over it supported on steel columns and an L-shaped timber screen wall.

Entrance is via a light bridge from an open parking area, onto the living level, which is one flowing space, glazed all round and in total contact with its natural surroundings. This is contrasted by the more protected and secure bedroom level, with its controlled window openings and dramatic interior contrasts of light and shadow.
