House Finklaire

A modest house in which the interplay of roof, concrete slab and infill wall planes creates a tension between boundlessness and containment, rootedness and buoyancy, centre and periphery. The bedrooms can be opened up to form a semi-continuous space, allowing for a richer variety of activity and use. The ground floor, likewise, flows seamlessly to the outdoor patios and garden. The intricacy and personal nature of the interiors are a counterpoint to the simplicity of the exterior architecture.
